Slot confirms Liverpool injury blow as he provides updates on four players | OneFootball

Arne Slot has confirmed that Jeremie Frimpong will be out for “a few weeks” after going off injured against Qarabag.

Frimpong’s injury has added to Liverpool’s defensive shortage, with Joe Gomez, Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni also currently sidelined.

But Ibrahima Konate is back in contention for this weekend’s game against Newcastle after returning from compassionate leave following the death of his father.

“He (Frimpong) will definitely not be in the squad tomorrow,” Slot said on the Dutchman. “He’s going to be out for a few weeks but not as bad as we thought, so something positive from something not so positive.

“Ibou trained with us yesterday, trained with us today, and will be in the squad tomorrow.”

Curtis Jones is also available again following illness, but Gomez is not yet ready to return.

“Curtis is again available, he was sick as I said but he is again available,” Slot explained.

“And Joe will not be available but that doesn’t have to take much longer. But he will not be available for the weekend.”
