The latest update on Liverpool’s record signing has landed ahead of the weekend’s Premier League clash at Anfield.
Speaking in his pre-Manchester United press conference at the AXA Training Centre, Arne Slot was asked for a fitness update on Alexander Isak.
“He has had five or six weeks of pre-season which is normal,” Slot told the press. “Fitness-wise he is close to the level and we can judge in a fair way from now on.”
The 47-year-old continued: “I know how this industry works — if he plays twice and doesn’t score, that’s not what you want. But he didn’t, and I think his pre-season has maybe finished now.
“He has played a few games, 70–80 minutes. So let’s see where he is.”

Isak’s own comments while on international duty for Sweden last week suggested he’s ready to feature heavily.
“Tomorrow I’ll be ready for 90 minutes if needed,” the striker said. “Now it’s been a month since the last international window.
“I’ve got a lot more playing time and things have calmed down. I feel in a much better position now than last time.”
A nightmare defeat to Kosovo meant it was far from the ideal outcome in the week but seeing our new No.9 being declared fit to play full games can only be seen as a plus for us.
Liverpool supporters will be eager to see the £125m forward build on his minutes, especially given how crucial goals could be in this early title defence.
Slot’s careful tone suggests Isak could start against United – though with Hugo Ekitike also pushing for involvement, the boss certainly has options up top.

With Florian Wirtz also finding rhythm behind the strikers, Liverpool’s attacking setup is evolving fast under our new-look system.
The 26-year-old Swede’s been working hard with weeks of fitness work, now we could finally see him unleashed at Anfield this weekend – at full capacity.
