Arne Slot says he has “every reason” to believe he will be the Liverpool boss next season.

The Liverpool head coach has come under pressure this season following an underwhelming campaign which will end without silverware.

But Slot says plans for next season are well underway and is confident he will still be at the club.

“I don’t think I’m deciding that alone, but I have every reason to believe that I am the Liverpool manager next season,” he said.

“First of all, I’m contracted to this club, and second of all, from all the talks we’re having and that is my take on it.

“But as I said, if you don’t have the best season, especially if you compare it with last season, this has definitely not been a great season, and it’s normal that criticism comes.

“I think we’ve all had our share. The players, the manager, and other people in the club have had their share. That is how things work nowadays if you don’t win the league.

“I think the world has gone to, if a manager or a club doesn’t have their best season, there is always debate about that.

“It’s not only at Liverpool, it’s all around the world. That is also the new reality in football.

“It’s not up to me to judge the people who judge me so they have every right to have their opinion and in modern times, everyone can share their opinion as well.

“This happened 10/15 years ago as well but you did it in a pub and not everyone heard it. Now it’s probably also done in a pub, if I read what they are saying, they must have drank a little bit. That’s a joke, by the way.

“But now it’s more out in the open than it was back in the day. That’s everywhere the same so I would be surprised if that would be different here at Liverpool.”
