Arne Slot thanked the Liverpool fans for the atmosphere they created in his side’s 4-0 win over Galatasaray.

Liverpool reached the Champions League quarter finals, where they will face PSG, thanks to goals from Dominik Szoboszlai, Hugo Ekitike, Ryan Gravenberch and Mo Salah.

“I think we played the game I was hoping for, the players were hoping for and the fans were hoping for,” Slot said.

“Not only we, from start to finish, played the perfect game but our fans as well.

“From the start they were not accepting what we thought would happen and what happened. They (Galatasaray) tried to create a situation where the energy would run out of the stadium by making sure there was not much playing time.

“But our fans reacted great to that and our players kept on going so there was a great dynamic between fans and players.

“Almost the perfect game from us, but definitely from our fans.”
