South Korea head coach Hong Myung-bo has named a 26-man squad for the World Cup, with captain Son Heung-min selected for a fourth finals. According to L'Équipe, the tournament runs from 11 June to 19 July.
Son, 33, now at Los Angeles FC in MLS, is joined by Kim Min-jae of Bayern Munich and PSG playmaker Lee Kang-in. Son previously featured in 2014, 2018 and 2022.
South Korea are in Group A with Mexico, South Africa and Czechia.
Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Jens Castrop, capped five times, is included. Born in Düsseldorf to a South Korean mother and German father, he becomes the first foreign-born player to be part of a World Cup squad for the Taeguk Warriors.
Two warm-up friendlies are planned before the competition, first against Trinidad and Tobago, then El Salvador.
