The young Argentine said that his international colleagues Paulo Dybala and Leonardo Paredes, as was coach Daniele De Rossi, who is considered an honorary Argentine after his short spell in the country with Boca Juniors.

Soule also thanked his former Frosinone coach Eusebio Di Francisco for giving him the minutes last season that got him to this position today.

He also vowed to thank the Giallorossi supporters by showing them what he can do on the pitch.

What Soule said about Roma, Friedkins and airport madness

“I’m so pleased. I’d like to thank the Friedkin family for bringing me here, as they’ve done everything for me,” Soule said at the beginning of his first Roma interview.

“For me, it’s a dream to be here given how much they wanted me and how much I wanted to come here. My family and girlfriend have been so supportive, as well as everyone else who works with me. I can’t wait to get started.”

Soule was given a rapturous reception by hundreds of Giallorossi supporters at the airport in Rome on Sunday evening.

“It was fantastic, I didn’t expect it! I knew there would be some people there, but nothing quite like that. It was something I could have never imagined in my life,” he said about the impromptu gathering.

Soule on Argentine influence at Roma

Soule was also asked if he has had any conversations with fellow Argentines Dybala or Paredes.

He said: “I have spoken to them. As soon as the rumours about me coming here started, they told me about what it’s like here and how happy they are. I also asked them about it all. Every day, I spoke more and more about it with Paulo: ‘When are you coming? Come on, I’m waiting for you, there’s a free space for you’.”

“Of course, it’s nice to be appreciated, but I’ll need to show it on the pitch to all the fans who have been waiting for me.”

On his experience with Frosinone last season, Soule added: “I learned so much with Mister Di Francesco and I’m grateful to everyone there, because without him and Guido Angelozzi, I wouldn’t be here now as they gave me the chance to play and they showed faith in me from day one.

Which position on the pitch does he feel best suited to?

“In that part of the pitch on the right, or just behind the striker as a second attacker. I can also play as a Mezzala. I think I can play in a few different positions.

Soule on De Rossi, city of Rome and message for Giallorossi supporters

“I assessed everything before coming here. In terms of the coach, I saw how the team played last year, and how it’s changed since he came in. He’s really incredible. As for being here and training with him, he’s also spent time in Argentina and understands everything. He speaks Argentine Spanish, so that will be really helpful.

“It took quite a few days, but I just wanted it to happen straight away. I was convinced in every regard, from the coach to the club. What I wanted more than anything was to stay in Italy and come to Roma.”

Soule admits that he already fell in love with the city of Rome during his time with nearby Frosinone last season.

“I’ve got to know the city recently since playing for Frosinone, as I was close by. I’m really in love with the city. I used to come here a lot, maybe once a week. Now, living here will be fantastic.

“Thank you for everything at the airport, It was really wonderful for me. And I’ll also thank you on the pitch by showing what I can do. See you at the stadium,” Soule concluded.
