Lyle Foster is exuding complete calmness ahead of this crucial showdown with Nigeria. The Bafana Bafana striker believes the Super Eagles are under more pressure in the race for a spot at the 2026 World Cup.

The South African international feels his team holds a privileged position in Group C of the African qualifiers. With their 3-0 win over Lesotho last Friday, Hugo Broos’ men have cemented their status as group leaders with 16 points.

"I don’t necessarily think there’s pressure on us. I think right now we are where we are in the group and that’s positive. I think the pressure is on those trying to catch us, but that doesn’t mean we can let up or relax our efforts," Foster said.

Foster’s comments reveal a relaxed South African squad fully aware of its strengths. Belgian coach Hugo Broos has fostered a climate of confidence within the team, clearly reflected in the players’ public statements.

"I think we just need to keep the same mentality and stay focused, keep playing game by game, stay humble and, as I said, take matches as they come. I think we’ve made a good start, but the most important thing is to keep pushing forward and make sure we seal the deal," he concluded.
