Southampton icon Cedric Soares has decided to resume his career in Brazil. The 33-year-old full-back is close to joining Sau Paulo on a short-term contract.

Though not one of the biggest or fanciest stadiums in the Premier League, St. Mary's still owns a vibrant unique atmosphere. Understandably, Southampton players have their heart here even after departing.

It's no mere chance that some of the renowned club icons have served a second spell at the Saints.

Premier League top scorer Alan Shearer made a return to Southampton as the brand ambassador. Infamously, Adam Lallana is enjoying a return stint at the club currently.

But we could have had another important name in this decorated list, had it been for this legend.

We are talking about Southampton icon Cedric Soares. Being a free agent after Arsenal exit, the right-back had been linked with a return move, but it didn't materialize.

Nevertheless, the Saints hero is set to resume his professional career again. Interestingly, after spending ample years in the Premier League, Soares is on a new challenge this time.

As per FootBoom, Cedric Soares has agreed to a term contract with Brasileiro club Sau Paulo. Though the deal has been signed for a move till April 30, 2025, there is an option for the club to extend.

Certainly, a move to Brazil sees him nearing his football career, but it has been one Soares can be proud of.

Clearly, during his Southampton days, Soares was one of a rare resource in the full-back role. Being an attack-oriented, quick track-backing wingback, the Portuguese was elemental to the Saints in all the 138 games he played.

But, it all fell together since his Arsenal move. Recently, Soares recalled how Tottenham approached him before an Arsenal move, but his days would have been hardly different either.

Albeit, for Southampton, Cedric Soares has been a legendary player and will continue to be. Wishing the full-back hero a huge success in his future endeavors.
