Southampton have been drawn at home to Premier League leaders Arsenal in the FA Cup quarter-final, scheduled for the weekend of Saturday, fourth April.

According to Sainstmarching.com, Tonda Eckert's side progressed after seeing off Fulham in the fifth round on Sunday. Léo Scienza and Tom Fellows missed chances before Ross Stewart's last-minute penalty sent them through.

The full draw reads: Southampton v Arsenal, Chelsea v Port Vale, Manchester City v Liverpool, and West Ham United or Brentford v Leeds United. Fixture and ticket details will follow on the Southampton official site.

This is a repeat of the 2003 final, which Arsenal won 1-0 at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

Southampton eliminated the Gunners in the fourth round in 2021, Gabriel's own goal sealing a surprise win.

Arsenal lifted the cup in 1979, Alan Sunderland scoring in the 89th minute. That year they met Southampton at this stage, a 1-1 draw at the Dell before Sunderland struck either side of half-time in the replay.

With Wembley one win away, a home tie will be welcomed. Southampton are unbeaten in ten matches and are unlikely to be taken lightly by Mikel Arteta.

Saints will hope Arsenal's league and European push leaves the FA Cup lower priority. Southampton may also juggle aims, though some will say the FA Cup should take precedence in this 50th anniversary of 1976, when Bobby Stokes beat Manchester United at Wembley.
