Southampton have been linked with a late transfer pursuit for in-form Championship winger, Ollie Tanner. Could Ivan Juric get his man?
So far, the January transfer window has been rather kind to Southampton. They have welcomed three players to the St Marys Stadium - Welington, Joachim Kayi Sanda and Albert Gronbaek (loan).
However, now that we are in the last week and change of the January transfer window being available to clubs, Southampton have been linked to a surprising transfer for a winger.
Without a doubt, it would be a welcomed recruit as far as the Saints are concerned. After all, we could do with all the help we can get between now and the end of the season if there's any chance of safety.
According to a report from Football Insider, Southampton are one of four clubs linked to the January transfer window signing of Ollie Tanner. Alongside the Saints, Leeds United, Leicester City and Burnley are linked to the signing.
Ollie Tanner is currently playing for Cardiff City. However, the winger is in such fine form that he could secure a move to the Premier League ahead of schedule.
As it stands, Cardiff are struggling in terms of their league position. Despite not losing a game in the league in the last five, Cardiff currently sit 20th, so they are involved in a relegation battle as it stands.
Despite this, Ollie Tanner has been one of the standout players in the league this season. His impressive, confident approach has raised the eyebrows of two Premier League teams and two teams battling it out towards the top of the Championship.
Little is known about Cardiff's valuation of Tanner. However, considering he is under contract at the club until 2027, the Welsh club can afford to set a high-bar for offers.
