Southampton extended their unbeaten run to 12 matches with an excellent away win at Coventry City, keeping themselves in the promotion race. Sainstmarching.com named Daniel Peretz their player of the match with nine out of 10.
Flynn Downes struck his second goal of the season before Kuryu Matsuki finished from close range. Shea Charles conceded a late penalty that Victor Torp converted in the 90th minute, and Tonda Eckert's side then survived seven minutes of added time.
Peretz commanded his area and produced a superb first-half save to deny Liam Kitching. James Bree, seven out of 10, contained Ephron Mason-Clark and his corner led to Matsuki's winner.
Taylor Harwood-Bellis and captain Jack Stephens each earned seven out of 10, both making 10 clearances. Ryan Manning, six out of 10, was erratic in possession but defended soundly and curled a second-half free-kick narrowly wide.
In midfield, Downes took eight out of 10 and received Sky Sports’ player of the match, combining bite with tidy passing and the opener. Cameron Bragg, six out of 10, screened the back four, while Caspar Jander, seven out of 10, covered ground throughout.
Matsuki, seven out of 10, repaid faith by stabbing in the decisive goal. Finn Azaz, seven out of 10, mixed creativity with greater intensity, and Cyle Larin, six out of 10, led the line but should have scored early. From the bench, Cameron Archer took six out of 10, Shea Charles five out of 10, and Nathan Wood was not rated.
