Left back Charlie Taylor is a top defensive candidate on Watford's January transfer shortlist.
Recently, a big update emerged regarding Southampton defender Charlie Taylor's loan move. The left back is a priority signing for Hull City but that doesn't seem true the other way round.
Consequently, the Championship outfit is mulling over the idea of approaching other defensive options. Walking out from the deal seems right on their part but Taylor can't entirely be blamed for not approving the move.
As a reminder, the 31-year-old won promotion with Burnley two years ago. Taylor also enjoyed a brilliant individual season in the Championship, so joining a bottom-table Championship team isn't a wise call.
Especially, when there isn't any shortage of potential buyers for him.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio transfer reporter Luca Bendoni, Watford are also weighing up a loan offer for Taylor.
In his own words, Luca Bendoni said: "Watford have verbally approached Southampton to express their interest in a potential loan deal for Charlie Taylor. Southampton are asking for a significant salary contribution. Watford now reflecting about this possibility - one to keep an eye on."
Compared to Hull City, Watford are enjoying a good run of form in the Championship. Further, it wouldn't be a surprise to even consider them as a promotion contender.
Most importantly, this factor could have a big say in convincing Taylor. Getting an opportunity to play in the Premier League is a dream for many players and Charlie Taylor is no different.
With each Premier League match, Southampton edge considerably closer to relegation. Hence, many experienced players would definitely want to jump ships and seek much more favourable destinations.
Also, the report mentions that a loan move is being discussed between the clubs. If Taylor gives the green light to join Watford, Southampton must attempt to negotiate better terms such as including a buy clause.
Promotion clauses are becoming immensely popular among them which could also work in Southampton's favour. After all, the Saints hardly play him and would be fine letting him go for a good transfer fee.
