Southampton reportedly have their eyes on Coventry City star Jack Rudoni this summer.

According to The Sun, Southampton have had a bid for the Coventry City midfielder rejected, with the Saints offer falling well beneath Coventry's asking price.

Following relegation from the Premier League, new manager Will Still is looking to strengthen his midfield options, with Rudoni considered a serious option for the Saints.

Southampton have rejected bids for homegrown sensation Tyler Dibling, who was only recently withdrawn from training amid a £40 million plus £5 million in add-ons bid from Premier League side Everton.

The England youth international is rated extremely highly at St Mary's, but Southampton have held firm with their valuation of the 19-year-old.

Football League World's Southampton fan pundit, Martin Sanders, would understandably be disappointed to see Dibling leave, but would welcome the signing of Rudoni from Coventry.

"He'd be a great player. Jack Rudoni [is] one my top, top players on my list to be honest. I think he's a brilliant Championship player, [he was] magnificent for Coventry last season," says Sanders.

"I thought as the season went along he got better and better, carries the ball well, and do you know what, if Saints can get £50 million for Dibling, why not go and spend £15 million on Rudoni?

"Maybe it would cost more, maybe it would cost £20 million.

"You can't let Dibling go without bringing some talent in, and for me, he'd be a brilliant, brilliant signing for Saints."

In light of seeing the news of Southampton's bid for Rudoni, Sanders says: "When I saw that I was buzzing for it because I just think he is everything we need right now.

"Dibling will no doubt go, he will 100% go."

Rudoni signing would be a statement of intent by Southampton

If or when Dibling does depart this summer, Will Still will no doubt be diving into the transfer market in search of a replacement.

With Saints' bid being rebuffed by Coventry, it remains unclear whether they will return with an improved bid for Rudoni.

Dibling will likely only depart for Southampton for a fee over £50 million, and if that deal does go through, on top of the parachute payments they already have after relegation, Southampton will not be strapped for cash.

Should Dibling leave, Saints will have more than enough money to go back in for Rudoni and secure a deal for the Englishman.

The 24-year-old enjoyed a superb debut season for the Sky Blues in 24/25, making 50 total appearances and scoring 10 goals, whilst adding a further 13 assists in all competitions.

A versatile and attack-minded midfielder, Rudoni could be the ideal replacement for Dibling, and hand Saints a proven top-quality Championship performer who is yet to reach his prime.
