Spain international reacts to reports linking him with Barcelona move | OneFootball

FC Barcelona are still working on their task to find a successor of Robert Lewandowski, and although they have been linked with the Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez very strongly, they are still keeping their eyes on some other potential targets as well, mostly as alternatives to the Argentine, who remains their main candidate.

One of the players in this list is the experienced Spanish forward Mikel Oyarzabal, who is currently playing for Spain in the World Cup 2026. The Spaniard recently appeared in an interview with Mundo Deportivo, and one of the questions he was asked was about his links with the Blaugrana club.

While taking this interest from the Catalan side positively, the forward did not appear too flattered by these links:

“If people are talking about you, it’s probably because they think you’re doing things well. But I don’t give it much importance or spend much time thinking about those things. Right now I’m focused on being here, at this World Cup, trying to help the team in whatever way I can. In the matches ahead, whether I’m playing or not, I want to help the team and make sure things go well collectively, because that’s what really matters.”

Other players like Eli Junior Kroupi and Goncalo Ramos have also been linked with Barcelona as possible alternatives to Alvarez. However, Mikel Oyarzabal appears to be a particularly suitable candidate for them for several reasons.

For starters, he has been playing in La Liga for quite a long time, and this experience means he would not need a lot of time to adapt to the Catalan club if he undertakes a move. Similarly, he has also shared the dressing room with several Blaugrana players with the Spanish national team, and he would find several players ready to welcome him with open arms if he decides to join.

However, for now, Mikel Oyarzabal seems fully focused on the World Cup, and it remains to be seen whether the stars would align for Barcelona to make a move for him this summer.
