Juventus are expected to announce that head coach Luciano Spalletti has signed a new contract on Friday, and reports from multiple outlets in Italy indicate that the Bianconeri tactician will have a big sway on future transfer decisions.

Spalletti took over from Igor Tudor as head coach of Juventus in October and signed an initial contract until the end of the 2025-26 season with an option to extend. On his new deal, Spalletti will be tied to the club until the summer of 2028 and will receive an annual salary of around €5m-€6m per season.

The contract extension announcement is expected to be delivered on Friday.

Reports indicate that Juventus made the decision to lock down Spalletti at the beginning of the calendar year, specifically after the 3-0 victory over Sassuolo in January, which was the side’s fifth positive result in a run of seven unbeaten matches.

According to reports from multiple outlets in Italy, Spalletti has received reassurances that the club will invest again during the upcoming summer transfer window in order to assemble a squad that is ready to compete for titles immediately.

The Bianconeri are looking to bring in reinforcements all over the pitch, including at goalkeeper, in central midfield and at centre-forward. The Bianconeri could look to bring in new defenders as well. Several ‘big’ names have been linked as well, including Liverpool’s Alisson Becker, Real Madrid’s Antonio Rudiger and Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva.

According to Tuttosport and others, Spalletti will have a big say in the transfer targets that Juventus decide to bring in. The Turin-based outlet suggests that Spalletti will be given responsibilities ‘that go beyond the pitch’. Friday’s print edition claimed that Spalletti will be a coach-cum-director.
