There was no rest for the wicked across the English Football League. There were full slates of fixtures in all three leagues on Boxing Day, the 29th of December, and New Year's Day - as well as this weekend - making it four games in the space of nine days for the 72 clubs across the pyramid. Therefore, there have been plenty of games for a number of Spurs loanees.
In the Championship, there was action for Ashley Phillips' Stoke City side, as well as Dane Scarlett and his Oxford United side. Let's take a look at how they got on both individually and collectively.
To begin, Stoke made the trip down to Devon to face Plymouth Argyle, in the first game of the post Wayne Rooney era for the hosts - as well as the first game of the Mark Robins era for Stoke - as Phillips returned to the club he spent the last six months of last season on loan to.
For his first line up as manager, Robins included Phillips in the starting XI, as he partnered Ben Wilmot in a four at the back set up, with two other central defenders named on the bench instead - an encouraging start from that point of view.
From an individual point of view, the game itself would also be an encouraging start, as he and his side kept their third clean sheet in a row. Unfortunately, they could not make it count down the other end, as they were held to a 0-0 draw by a seriously struggling side in Plymouth.
Nevertheless, another 90 minutes in the tank for Phillips, who played his part, with; two interceptions, two tackles, 3/4 ground duels won, 2/3 aerial duels won, and one foul drawn. On the ball, he had 76 touches, and 3/4 accurate long balls.
This point leaves Stoke in 19th place in the Championship, with 27 points from their 26 games so far.
Elsewhere, Scarlett was again named amongst the substitutes by new Oxford manager Gary Rowett, making it four games out of four on the bench since he took over. However, he would get his chance a lot earlier than expected, with starting striker Mark Harris having to be withdrawn just ten minutes into the game.
However, in those eighty minutes - he was unable to register a single shot, as the U's came away with a credible draw, making it 10 points out of a possible 12 to begin the Rowett era. This draw leaves them in 17th place in the Championship, with 28 points from their 25 games.
Next up for both teams is FA Cup third round action. Stoke will make the trip North, as they face Sunderland for the third time in 35 days. Meanwhile, Oxford make the trip to the opposite side of the country, as they face League One side Exeter City.
