Bayern Munich extended their unbeaten run across all competitions to 14 games after beating St Pauli in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
The injury to Lennart Karl was already a blow for Vincent Kompany, and ahead of the match, Serge Gnabry was also ruled out with a knee discomfort.
Jamal Musiala scored the opening goal for Bayern in the first half, before Leon Goretzka and Michael Olise scored in quick succession after the break.
Nicolas Jackson scored his fourth Bundesliga goal and Raphael Guerreiro put the icing on the cake as Bayern created record for scoring most goals in a season, with 105 goals.
With the crucial second leg of the UEFA Champions League tie against Real Madrid in mind, Kompany made a host of changes to the side for the trip to St Pauli.
In defence, Jonathan Tan and Dayot Upamecano were both rested, with Hiroki Ito and Kim Min-jae replacing them.
Nicolas Jackson and Jamal Musiala were given the nod, while Leon Goretzka also started in place of Aleksandar Pavlovic.
It was an end-to-end, exciting opening 45 minutes, with Bayern dominating possession as expected, and created some very good chances.
The visitors took an early lead through Jamal Musiala, who scored with a header after Konrad Laimer picked him with a fantastic cross.
The Bayern attacking midfielder also came close to scoring another after a brilliant attack, but he was denied by the post.
St Pauli kept on pushing for an equaliser, and Mathias Pereira Lage nearly scored from a brilliant break, but his right footed shot from the centre of the box is blocked by Ito.
In the second half, from a free-kick taken by Kimmich, the ball fell to Leon Goretzka, who lashed a thunderous shot with his left foot to make it 2-0.
It was a brilliant moment for the German international, who will leave the club at the end of the season, and ensured there’s no comeback for St Pauli.
Seconds later, Bayern scored again, this time through Michael Olise, who took the ball towards the edge of the box and unleashed a left-footed cannon into the far corner.
Bayern kept pushing for the next goal, and it came through Nicolas Jackson, with Musiala playing a brilliant pass to put him through.
There was still time for one more goal and Raphael Guerreiro, who will leave Bayern at the end of the season, added another to make it a comfortable win.
In the dying seconds of the match, Leon Goretzka thought he had scored the sixth goal with a header, but it was ruled out after VAR check as he was offside.
