Ritsu Doan was on target as Eintracht came from behind in Augsburg to secure a 1-1 draw in a game in which Rasmus Kristensen made his comeback from injury.
Starting debut for Love ArrhovHead coach Albert Riera made three changes following last week’s home game against Leipzig. Love Arrhov was handed a first-ever start, with Ellyes Skhiri and Can Uzun also coming in, while Arthur Theate, Jonathan Burkardt and Farès Chaibi dropped to the bench. Amil Siljevic was included in the squad as a replacement for the injured Jens Grahl, while Rasmus Kristensen was also among the substitutes after recovering from a foot injury.Chance for the EaglesAugsburg began the game on the front foot but Eintracht’s defence – marshalled by Skhiri at centre-back – stood firm and did not give away any chances. The Eagles had their first sight of goal in the eighth minute when Uzun played a clever pass to Arrhov in the Augsburg penalty area, but his shot hit the left-hand post. It wouldn’t have counted anyway, as referee Harm Osmers blew his whistle as the ball had previously gone out of play.
Eintracht on top
Riera’s men increasingly took control as the match progressed, but Oscar Højlund, Arnaud Kalimuendo and Uzun all missed chances to score.
Behind at the break
Augsburg took the lead from a counterattack shortly before half-time. Michael Gregoritsch’s shot from the edge of the box hit the post and the rebound fell kindly for Anton Kade to prod in for the opener. Chance for Uzun
Riera brought on Ansgar Knauff and Ritsu Doan for Arrhov and Ayoube Amaimouni-Echghouyab at the interval to give his side fresh attacking impetus, and Eintracht began the second half with greater purpose. Nathaniel Brown found Uzun inside the box in the 48th minute, but the attacker slipped as he was shooting and narrowly missed the target from 14 metres.
Doan levels
Eintracht equalised in the 67th minute following a counterattack when Knauff passed to Uzun, who in turn found Doan inside the box. He drilled the ball low into the bottom left-hand corner to make it 1-1.Chances at both ends Frankfurt, who had been the better team for much of the second half, pushed for a late winner but teasing long-range efforts from Uzun (77’) and Hugo Larsson (80’) were saved by Finn Dahmen.
Eintracht rode their luck at the other end of the pitch a short while later when Rodrigo Ribeiro narrowly missed the target with a clear sight of goal (83’). Michael Zetterer then produced fine saves to deny Marius Wolf and Kade shortly before the final whistle, while Kristensen, making his comeback from injury, was denied by Dahmen with an effort from the edge of the box, leaving the final score at 1-1.
