Our Barclays Women’s Super League fixtures have been announced and there are some eye-catching clashes that are staples for the diary.

City start WSL title defence at home to Birmingham

In less than two months, Andrée Jeglertz and his team will begin our title defence in which we will fight to retain the WSL trophy for the first time in the Club’s history.

The team have already been hard at work with pre-season preparations well and truly under way.

And the team have been provided an extra boost of motivation following the release of our WSL fixtures, with some standout games* outlined below…

OPENING DAY

Our 2026/27 campaign will begin with a home clash against newly-promoted Birmingham City.

The West Midlands outfit have returned to the top-flight for the first time since 2021/22 and will undoubtedly be keen to cause an upset in the first fixture of the new season.

But you only have to go back as far as last season for our last clash against Birmingham, with a hard fought 1-0 win, courtesy of Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw enough to see us advance to the FA Cup semi-final.

We welcome them to the Joie Stadium on Sunday 6 September, with kick-off set for 14:30 (UK).

GUNNERS AT THE ETIHAD

City will host two WSL home fixtures at the Etihad again in 2026/27.

And it won’t be a long wait until our first. We will take on fellow title challengers Arsenal at 16:30 (UK) on Sunday 4 October.

Renee Sleger’s side proved difficult opponents in our previous home WSL clash against the Gunners. But City will be hoping to emulate our 3-2 win on the same day 12 months prior.

City to host WSL matches with Arsenal and Manchester United at Etihad Stadium

BLUE VERSUS RED

Derby days are always the most exciting games in the calendar.

And if last season’s clashes with Manchester United were anything to go by, our upcoming match-ups will not disappoint.

First, we will travel to the other side of town on the weekend of 23/24/25 October.

The reverse fixture will be held at the Etihad, in what will be our second game across the road, and will take place on 12/13/14 February 2027, with City fully focused on looking to secure all six points against our cross-city rivals in back-to-back seasons.

FESTIVE FIXTURES

We will cap off 2026 by welcoming Everton to the Joie Stadium on 18/19/20 December, another difficult opponent that made us work for a 2-0 victory in our last clash on home soil.

The team will return from our winter break in 2027 with another home tie which will see us take on Chelsea.

Our clash with Sonia Bompastor’s side is set for 8/9/10 January 2027. Can we replicate last season’s 5-1 victory?

LAST HURRAH

To complete the 2026/27 WSL season, Jeglertz and his side will make the short trip to Merseyside for our game against Liverpool.

Last time out at Anfield, the Reds pushed City to our limits, with a narrow 2-1 victory enough to see us take three points back to Manchester.

We will face Liverpool on 21/22/23 May 2027 with confirmation of the final day of the campaign to be confirmed in due course.
