Simba SC head coach Steve Barker has shared thoughts on his team's growing consistency ahead of their clash against Dodoma Jiji in the Tanzanian Premier League on Wednesday (18:15).

The Reds of Msimbazi head into the match sitting fourth on the NBC Premier League standings, having picked up 22 points in nine league outings, albeit with less games played.

Simba will be brimming with confidence as they won three games on the trot, much to the delight of Barker, who although, cautioned against complacency.

“We are starting to show signs of good consistency as a team and that's important for us to never become complacent. We've got to keep looking to improve because if we can keep improving our performances, that increases our chances of winning matches,” he said.

"We want to continue growing as a team, we want to keep improving, we want to keep consistency. So, it's important that each and every game has its different challenges, as our opposition would have challenges, they are also coming off some good results, so we are expecting a tough match.

"From a tactical point of view, it's more about what we want to achieve as a team and playing with our identity and creating an identity that Simba need to embed. We've laid some good foundations but there's still a lot work to be done, still a lot of improvement to be done.

Barker was appointed in December 2025, succeeding Bulgarian mentor Dimitar Pantev, who was shown the exit door after a string of poor results.

The South African tactician has been tasked with toppling fierce rivals Young Africans, who have won four league titles in row.
