Nathaniel Brown’s transfer to FC Bayern had recently been considered a mere formality. Now, however, there are new developments that could still derail the deal.

Everything actually seemed to be heading toward a prompt completion. FC Bayern and Eintracht Frankfurt had significantly narrowed their differences in negotiations over Nathaniel Brown in recent weeks; the physical had already been arranged, and a long-term contract running through 2031 was apparently ready to go.

But the deal is still not finalized.

As Sky reports, as of Sunday, no agreement had yet been reached among all parties involved. Accordingly, the negotiations remain in a critical phase.

Above all, the financial terms appear to be playing a key role. The total package for the German national team player is considered extremely costly and continues to be a major focus for officials at Säbener Straße.

Brown’s contract is expensive

It had already been reported recently that Bayern and Eintracht Frankfurt had reached a basic agreement on a total transfer fee of around 55 million euros.

However, negotiations are reportedly still ongoing regarding the exact structure of the transfer fee. While Frankfurt is pushing for the highest possible guaranteed income, the Munich club apparently wants to structure part of the sum as bonus payments.

Ultimately, a transfer of this magnitude must also be approved by FC Bayern’s supervisory board. Since this is a financially substantial deal, it appears that not all internal procedures have been finalized yet.

Therefore, for now, the wait continues.

Bayern is holding on to Brown

So could the deal still fall through? Nothing is said to have changed regarding the record champion’s basic plans. Brown remains one of the top targets for the left side of the defense.

The 22-year-old recently made a name for himself at the World Cup and was among the most prominent players on the field in Germany’s 7-1 opening victory over Curaçao as well as in the 2-1 win against Ivory Coast.

Internally, Bayern sees Brown as a long-term reinforcement for the left side and an important building block for the future.

Despite the current delay, there are still many indications that talks will continue. However, an agreement has not yet been reached.

Whether the transfer will ultimately go through as expected or whether the complicated negotiations will still cause problems remains to be seen. For now, all parties involved are waiting for the next developments.
