STJD fines Santos R$ 6,000 for delay in Palmeiras derby | OneFootball

Santos have been fined R$ 6,000 for a late pitch entry in last Saturday's Brasileirão match at Palmeiras' stadium in São Paulo.

According to Globo.com, the verdict was delivered on Friday by the STJD, with penalties applied under articles 191, R$ 4,000, and 206, R$ 2,000. Article 191 covers compliance with match regulations overall, while 206 addresses delays to kick-off.

The punishment was viewed as lenient and draws a line under the dispute, with the parties offering conflicting explanations for the delay.

The Military Police said Santos gave the wrong hotel address, which caused the unit to lose time travelling between Ibirapuera and Vila Olímpia.

Santos argued the police chose a poor route to the stadium, took detours and were held up by traffic, delaying the squad's warm-up, preparation and walkout to the pitch.
