STJD hands Corinthians home match loss and R$ 112,000 fine after derby incidents | OneFootball

The STJD on Friday punished Corinthians with the loss of one home fixture and a R$ 112,000 fine over incidents in Sunday’s derby with Palmeiras at Neo Química Arena. Three players were also suspended.

According to Meu Timao, the case was heard by the Third Disciplinary Commission, with sanctions applicable to national competitions. The club faced five charges: a drone carrying a plush pig, a stoppage caused by a kite line, late return for the second half, racist abuse directed at Palmeiras goalkeeper Carlos Miguel by a fan, and a post-match clash.

The racial abuse case led to the loss of home advantage and an R$ 80,000 fine, and remains under police investigation, with Corinthians assisting attempts to identify the culprit. Further fines were R$ 2,000 for delays, R$ 10,000 for the drone and R$ 20,000 for the altercation, totalling R$ 112,000.

Midfielder André received a one-match ban for an obscene gesture. Right-back Matheuzinho was banned for four matches after striking Flaco López in the face. Goalkeeper Hugo Souza got two matches for insulting the referee in a post-match interview.

A CBF competitions manual clause means that because the hearing preceded the automatic suspension, André is expected to miss an additional game under the ruling.

Midfielder Breno Bidon and goalkeeping coach Luiz Fernando dos Santos were cleared. Palmeiras were fined R$ 20,000 for the post-match confrontation.

Corinthians have completed preparations for matchday 12 of the Campeonato Brasileiro. They visit Vitória at Barradão on Saturday at 20:00.
