Stoke City should ask for at least £8million from Scottish giants Celtic if they are to sell winger Million Manhoef this summer, it has been claimed.
Manhoef is reportedly attracting attention north of the border, with four goals and four assists in 31 Championship games for a struggling Stoke side.
Whilst the Potters will hope to keep the Dutchman, Football League World's Stoke fan pundit believes his side could earn an eight-figure fee for Manhoef.
Stoke City fans probably fear the departure of key players this summer, especially with the Potters still at risk of being relegated to League One.
Million Manhoef has been linked to a switch to Celtic, who would be able to offer the Dutchman European football next term.
Asked if he felt that Manhoef would be tempted to swap Stoke for Celtic, FLW's Stoke City fan pundit Sam Harrison told Football League World: “I think that Million Manhoef is one of the four that in the summer are gonna attract attention, the others being Jun-ho Bae, Viktor Johansson, and Wouter Berger that may be tempted with a move away.
“I think out of the four, Manhoef is probably the most likely to go.
“The reason I say that is I think a winger, especially in the Championship, where they can produce that moment of brilliance, they’re going to attract that attention.
“The one thing about Million Manhoef is that he is absolutely key to Stoke having success.
“However, consistency of performances has been a big thing - we know exactly what he brings to the table, which is why he’ll start and why he is crucial in Stoke’s starting XI.
“However, is he consistent week-in, week-out? I don't think you can say so.
“He’s not constantly getting involved, but when he's on his day, when he's on form and he's getting involved, when he's taking on players, when he rolls the ball out and then hits it and scores, it's just fantastic, superb.”
Manhoef arrived midway through the 2023/24 campaign, with Stoke reportedly paying Eredivisie outfit Vitesse €4million (~£3.5million) in February 2024 to bring the winger to England.
Sam believes that Manhoef would be open to departing the Bet365 Stadium this summer, but thanks to the inflated prices of recent transfer windows, Stoke should be able to make a pretty penny.
“I think he will be tempted with a move away,” Sam restarted.
“Out of the four, I think he's going to be the most tempted to go.
“In terms of how much (Stoke would receive), I think the current market is just insane.
“The prices flying around left, right, and centre, I’d be looking at it and Stoke can get £8million for him.
“Obviously it would be nice to get £8m-10m or double figures, but I think that him being a young lad, Netherlands under-21 international, Stoke will look for a high price.
“With Celtic as well being the ones that are in for him, I think that could possibly mean that we aim a little higher.
“So I'm looking at about £8m.
“Maybe that's too high, maybe it's too low, but I think £8m for him, in terms of the long-term investment that you can have on him.
“He’s just one of them that is going to learn, that is going to development, you’re not risking anything bringing him in.
“You spend the money and even if it's not instant you are going to get an impact from him.
“Even in the Championship, he's gonna produce those moments of brilliance, he just needs to bring in more consistency to his performances.
“If Stoke could keep Manhoef, it would be nice and if we can get money for him, I think that just helps both sides.”
