Manchester City will face off against Monaco at the Stade Louis II on Wednesday night as they try to secure a good result on the road in the UEFA Champions League. The Mancunian giants secured a dominant 5-1 win over Burnley recently, so they would be full of confidence going into this game.

Pep Guardiola will set his team up in a 4-1-4-1 formation and is expected to make some changes to his starting XI for this clash. John Stones, Oscar Bobb and Bernardo Silva could all play from the start of this game.

Defence

Gianluigi Donnarumma will feature in between the sticks for Man City after conceding one goal in his last outing. John Stones will function alongside Josko Gvardiola at the centre of Guardiola’s defence as they look to keep the Monaco attackers frustrated throughout the 90 minutes.

Matheus Nunes will try to impress as the right-back, while Nico O’Reilly looks to give a good account of himself as the left-back. Both of them will have to pick and choose their moments to join in on the attack.

Ruben Dias will make up the numbers on the bench as he offers cover for the defensive positions.

Midfield

Nico Gonzalez will try to catch the eye as Man City’s defensive midfielder. Both Tijjani Reijnders and Bernardo Silva will operate just ahead of them as the box-to-box midfielders. All three of them would look to retain possession well in the middle of the park.

Jeremy Doku would get a chance to shine as the left-sided wide player, while Oscar Bobb hopes to make a difference from the right flank. Both of them will get the freedom to get in behind the opponent’s backline at every chance they get.

Attack

Erling Haaland will lead the line for the Mancunian giants up top. The Norway international scored a brace against Burnley last weekend and would fancy his chances of finding the back of the net versus Monaco this Wednesday night.

Savio will be available for selection on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if Man City are in need of a goal.
