Nottingham Forest are targeting a striker this month after Arnaud Kalimuendo’s loan to Eintracht Frankfurt, with Chris Wood sidelined and Taiwo Awoniyi’s future uncertain amid limited minutes. Igor Jesus is leading the line as Sean Dyche balances Premier League survival with Europa League aims.

Several forwards are being assessed in what is otherwise a quiet window.

Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Jorgen Strand Larsen has emerged as a prominent option. The 25-year-old joined permanently from Celta Vigo last summer after a 14-goal league loan campaign.

He has one Premier League goal this season and Wolves, adrift at the bottom, are said to be open to a deal. West Ham showed interest but were deterred by a reported £40 million price.

Strand Larsen struck a hat-trick in a 6-1 FA Cup win at the weekend. “There's nothing to say at the moment, I feel really happy,” he told the Express and Star.

Fenerbahce's Youssef En-Nesyri has also been linked. NTV Sport reports Forest have lodged a loan offer, though reports in Türkiye suggest he wants a warmer destination than England.

Roma’s Artem Dovbyk and Olympiacos’s Mehdi Taremi have been identified by The Athletic on a four-man shortlist. Forest have also been credited with interest in Brighton and Hove Albion’s Evan Ferguson, currently on loan at Roma, and Napoli’s Lorenzo Lucca.
