Strasbourg and Lens drew 1-1 on Friday at the Stade de la Meinau, a result that keeps Lens second in Ligue 1.
Joaquín Panichelli struck from outside the box into the top right in the 18th minute after a break, taking him to 14 league goals, second in the Ligue 1 scoring chart.
After the restart Lens surged and Mamadou Sangare drilled a left-footer from distance into the bottom left following a corner (62.). Mike Penders had already made key stops as the visitors cranked up the pressure.
Allan Saint-Maximin's introduction sharpened Lens on the counter (60.), with Abdallah Sima and Amadou Haidara adding fresh legs later as the visitors chased the game.
A VAR review then went Le Racing's way, with the referee confirming no penalty for the hosts (66.).
Deep in second half stoppage time, Penders tipped away Haidara's drive as Lens pressed for a late winner.
Le Racing saw 55.4% possession. Lens registered 25 attempts and eight corners.
Next, Le Racing host Reims in the Coupe de France. Lens visit Lyon in the Coupe de France.
