Two years after leaving France, Senegal international and former Strasbourg striker Habib Diallo (30) could soon be back in Ligue 1.
The 30-year-old striker left Strasbourg in August 2023 following a prolific 20-goal Ligue 1 season, joining Saudi Arabian side Al-Shabab in an €18m deal. He has since featured regularly in the Saudi Pro League, first with Al-Shabab and then on loan at Damac, tallying around 20 goal contributions in 61 appearances.
According to Foot Mercato, Diallo is now in the process of terminating his contract with Al-Shabab — where he is tied until 2026 — and would be free to choose his next club. The former Metz, Brest and Strasbourg forward, who rarely suffers injuries and remains a key figure for Senegal, has previously attracted interest from the likes of Strasbourg, Brest, Lens, Lorient and Lille.
Diallo is reportedly ready to lower his salary demands, which could reignite Ligue 1 interest. Several Spanish clubs are also said to be monitoring his situation, but a return to France — where he has scored over 100 goals across Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 — is now firmly on the table.GFFN | George Boxall
