Strasbourg to sign Mohamed Zongo, Burkina Faso prospect to join in 2028

Strasbourg are to sign Burkina Faso prospect Mohamed Zongo, with the 16-year-old left-footed attacking midfielder set to move after his 18th birthday.

The SC Cascades teenager said in a social media post that he will join the Alsace club in January 2028.

Zongo helped Burkina Faso reach the quarter-finals of the recent U17 World Cup in Qatar in November, and was among the tournament’s standout performers.

He had drawn interest from several European clubs.

Strasbourg have used this approach before, signing players before they turn 18 then waiting to integrate them. Senegalese forward Yaya Diémé is due to arrive next month, while Brazilian Angelo Candido is set for January 2027.
