Over the summer, Manchester City Sports Business School held the inaugural Summer Collegiate programme, bringing students from across the world to Manchester for a deep dive into the global business of football.
This marks the latest innovative programme offered by the Business School, following on from the sustained success of the Next Gen Man City programme, and signals the lasting commitment to offer world-leading, industry-based education to empower the next generation of sport industry professionals.
Delivered over four weeks, the Manchester City Summer Collegiate is a college credit-bearing programme that offers a unique educational experience to students.
Combining lectures, tutorials, workshops and site visits, the course is designed to provide a comprehensive overview to off-field operations for sport organisations.
Centred around four core modules - governance and strategy, commercial operations, marketing and community engagement and media - the programme explored the frameworks that drive the growth of football.
Throughout the programme, students engaged with real-world case studies and heard from Manchester City professionals across a range of departments.
Each session was designed to equip participants with the tools to understand football as a global business, offering both academic insight and practical industry exposure.
In addition to this, participants had a tour of the Etihad Stadium and City Football Academy, as well as immersing themselves in Manchester culture through a walking tour.
Following on from the success of this year’s programme, the Collegiate Summer Programme will return in 2026.
With places sold out early, prospective students are encouraged to register their interest for next year’s programme.
