Florian Plettenberg reports that VfB Stuttgart are close to signing Algerian winger Badredine Bouanani. The Swabian Bundesliga outfit shall shell out €20m plus add-ons for the OGC Nice professional. After a breakout season for his Ligue 1 club, Bouanani has recently raised his estimated market value to a career-high €7m.
Stuttgart’s first purchase since pocketing €90m on Nick Woltemade’s blockbuster sale usually works on the right flank, but can also supply attacking support from a centralized position. The former French youth international scored five goals and registered three assists in 37 appearances across all competitions for Les Aiglons last year.
Stuttgart head coach Sebastian Hoeneß promised that his club would remain active in the final days of the transfer window in order to replace Woltemade while speaking at a press conference yesterday.
The Cannstatter themselves were able to earn a massive home win in the Bundesliga afternoon kickoffs, finally securing their first victory after two losses and a draw in their first three competitive games.
