Alejandro Garnacho is awaiting his maiden outing for Chelsea after finally completing his desired move on deadline day.
Manchester United confirmed last week that the 21-year-old had made the switch to Stamford Bridge, therefore pulling the curtains on his five-year Red Devils tenure.
He left with 144 senior appearances to his name, scoring 26 goals and contributing a further 22 assists. Garnacho also won the Carabao Cup and FA Cup during his time at Old Trafford, prompting fans to question why INEOS allowed him to leave for a fee as low as £40 million.
From their perspective, his fallout with Ruben Amorim had set in stone that Garnacho would not feature for the club again. The fee he generated would also be classed as pure profit, providing the board with a welcome PSR boost following a high spending summer.
Left out of Lionel Scaloni’s Argentina squad for their World Cup qualifiers over the break, the winger has been able to spend some time at Cobham rebuilding his fitness levels and preparing for his debut, which may be when the Blues host Brentford in Saturday evening’s 8pm kick-off.
Three days later, they travel to face Bayern Munich in their Champions League opener – just weeks after Garnacho rejected the Bundesliga giants in favour of Chelsea.

The Carrington graduate has come under fire for how he presented himself in the hours leading up to his Chelsea unveiling.
On August 30 when Enzo Maresca’s men overturned Fulham 2-0 in the Premier League, Garnacho was in attendance at the stadium despite not yet being announced as an official member of the squad.
“When Garnacho signed for Chelsea, he had his brother with him? He was acting as an agent for the day. It’s a good wage for a day, that agency fee! What I just think is that he just sends such a bad message from the get-go,” said Foster.
“It just sends such a bad message to start with. Put your tie on, dress up nicely and smartly, and get the contract signed.”
