Dominic Calvert-Lewin continued his remarkable scoring run as Leeds United fought back to claim a deserved 1-1 draw against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
The striker netted for a sixth consecutive Premier League game, cancelling out a first-half opener to extend Leeds’ unbeaten run to five matches.
Daniel Farke’s side started brightly and dominated possession in the opening exchanges, probing patiently without finding an early breakthrough.
Noah Okafor went closest during that spell, forcing Sunderland to defend deep as Leeds looked to assert control.
Despite that pressure, it was the hosts who struck first midway through the half.
A long throw from Nordi Mukiele was only partially cleared, allowing Granit Xhaka time to pick out Simon Adingra with a sharp pass from the edge of the area.
Adingra took full advantage, curling a fine finish beyond Lucas Perri in the 28th minute to give Sunderland the lead.
The goal marked his first for the club since arriving in the summer and rewarded his lively display down the left flank.
Leeds were frustrated by the manner of the concession, with Joe Rodon struggling to close down Adingra while carrying an injury sustained moments earlier.
Rodon was eventually withdrawn, but the visitors nearly drew level before the break.
Brenden Aaronson beat Robin Roefs with a low strike in the 39th minute, only for Trai Hume to produce a crucial goal-line clearance.
Sunderland ended the half strongly and could have doubled their advantage.
Brian Brobbey squandered two clear chances, first failing to finish when sent clean through before glancing a header against the crossbar from an Adingra cross.
Those misses proved costly almost immediately after the restart.
Leeds levelled in the 47th minute through a goal that encapsulated their growing confidence and cohesion.
All 11 Leeds players were involved in a flowing passing move that ended with Aaronson delivering a low cross from the right.
Calvert-Lewin timed his run perfectly and applied a composed finish to bring the visitors back on terms.
The equaliser shifted the momentum decisively in Leeds’ favour.
Farke’s side dominated the second half, pinning Sunderland back and circulating the ball with authority.
Despite their control, clear chances were limited as the hosts defended resolutely to protect their unbeaten home record.
Sunderland improved after changes from Regis Le Bris, with the game opening up late on as both sides searched for a winner.
Neither could find a decisive moment, and the points were shared after a competitive and entertaining contest.
The result leaves Sunderland seventh on 28 points, while Leeds move to 16th on 20 points, seven clear of the relegation places.
For Leeds, the performance reinforced their momentum, with Calvert-Lewin’s scoring run once again proving central to their resilience and belief.
