Sunderland have addressed another supporter concern over season-ticket renewals, with a positive outcome for Karen Jacques and her family.

According to Sunderland Echo, several fans had raised issues over moves between corporate and general admission, direct debit problems and renewals. Not every case has been resolved, but the club has since contacted supporters directly.

Jacques, 62, said her mother, Sylvia Pickard, learned she could qualify for a free over-85s season ticket after holding one for over three years. In a corporate area no reduction could be applied, leaving a potential £2,000-plus bill despite possible eligibility elsewhere.

After further talks, seats in the concourse and near the front were offered, but the family felt they were unsuitable due to stairs and exposure to bad weather. Sunderland later proposed two seats in Block U1 for Pickard and a relative next season, which were viewed and accepted at the Stadium of Light.

Jacques said the family are pleased it is finally sorted, though she felt earlier action, before waiting-list sales, might have secured seats together and fewer stairs for her mother.

Long-serving supporter Steven Poppleton later received an apology call and an offer of general admission tickets for next season after raising a similar issue, which supporter group RAWA had discussed with the club. The club had told RAWA it would review individual cases, and recent updates indicate progress for some supporters.
