Sunderland have resolved a season ticket issue for Karen Jacques and her family, with Sylvia Pickard and another relative moving to Block U1 next season. The club is working through individual renewal concerns raised by supporters.
According to Sunderland Echo, not every case has been settled, but the club has been contacting fans directly after problems around moving between corporate and general admission, direct debits and flexibility.
Pickard discovered she could have been entitled to a free over-85s season ticket after holding a ticket for more than three years, but no reduction could initially be applied in a corporate area, leaving a potential bill of £2,000-plus. The family feared losing their tickets if they moved.
The club first proposed seats in the concourse and two near the front, which the family felt were unsuitable due to stairs in one case and exposure to bad weather in the other. Sunderland then offered two seats in Block U1, which they viewed and accepted.
Mrs Jacques said the family were happy it had been sorted, but felt it should have been addressed earlier, which might have secured seats together and fewer stairs for her mother.
Long-serving supporter Steven Poppleton also received a positive update after being unable to move from a premium area back into general admission following the death of his father, George. He later received an apology call from the club and an offer of general admission tickets for next season.
