Sunderland address season-ticket issue as family accept Block U1 move | OneFootball

Sunderland have addressed another season-ticket concern, with Karen Jacques’ family accepting a solution that will see her mother, Sylvia Pickard, and another relative move to Block U1 next season.

Sunderland Echo reports that several fans raised issues over switching between corporate and general admission, direct debits and the broader renewal process. Not every case is resolved, but the club has contacted supporters after cases were flagged.

Mrs Jacques, 62, highlighted limited flexibility after Mrs Pickard learned she could have qualified for a free over-85s season ticket having held one for more than three years. Corporate pricing initially prevented any reduction, leaving an expected bill above £2,000.

Fearing they might lose their ticket, the family stayed in their area. Early alternatives, in the concourse and near the front, were deemed unsuitable due to stairs in one case and exposure to poor weather in the other.

Sunderland later offered two seats in Block U1, which the family viewed at the Stadium of Light and accepted. Mrs Jacques said the family were eventually happy, though she felt earlier action could have secured seats together and fewer stairs for her mother.

A similar outcome was reported for long-serving supporter Steven Poppleton, whose attempt to move from a premium area back to general admission after the death of his father, George, was initially refused. His case was raised by supporters’ group RAWA, and he later confirmed the club apologised and offered his family general admission tickets for next season.
