Football Insider reports that Everton and Sunderland are weighing summer moves for Abdul Fatawu, with Leicester prepared to sell the winger amid relegation fears.

Fatawu, 22, is said to be unwilling to drop into League One should Leicester go down, potentially pushing for a move if that happens.

Sunderland reportedly came close to landing him last summer before he stayed to help Leicester chase promotion. That call has not paid off, with the Foxes near the foot of the Championship and four points from safety with only a handful of games left. Financial troubles off the pitch could force sales if relegation is confirmed.

Fatawu has been a rare bright spot, recording nine league goals and seven assists this season. He is considered one of Leicester’s top assets, and has 16 goals in 97 appearances across loan and permanent spells.

Leicester are thought to be resigned to losing the Ghana international and ready to sanction a deal below his previous valuation. His release clause is believed to be about £30million, yet he could be available closer to £20million this summer. Former Everton boss David Moyes is keen to strengthen his squad, but Sunderland are expected to provide strong competition as they continue building a young, high-upside attacking unit under Régis Le Bris.
