Calcio Mercato reports that Sunderland, Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest have made enquiries over Juventus and France midfielder Khephren Thuram. The 25-year-old’s future in Serie A remains in doubt and a possible Premier League deal has been explored.
Manchester United and Liverpool are said to be admirers, while Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked. Forest are fresh from receiving £115m for Elliot Anderson.
Sunderland are yet to make their first signing of the summer as they prepare for a maiden Europa League campaign. They were boosted by news Granit Xhaka looks set to stay despite strong interest from Premier League rivals Chelsea.
Director of football Florent Ghisolfi has emphasised that stability will shape this window. Last month he pointed to Athletic Bilbao’s example, dismissed the notion of changing 15 players in a year, and indicated last summer’s refresh would be followed by work with the current group.
Although additions are anticipated, the priority remains continuity. Any potential move for Thuram would face strong competition and hinges on Juventus’s position.
