Sunderland’s Premier League trip to Newcastle will take place on Sunday, 22 March, confirmed after the Magpies went out of the Carabao Cup.
Eddie Howe’s side lost 5-1 on aggregate to Manchester City, with a 3-1 defeat in the second leg at the Etihad. City will face Arsenal at Wembley on 22 March. According to Sunderland Echo, confirmation of that showpiece and its participants finalised the derby earlier the same day.
The second Tyne-Wear meeting of the season had been pencilled for Saturday, 21 March, then moved for television. The match was selected for live broadcast by Sky Sports, and its timing had depended on a possible Newcastle trip to Wembley.
Elsewhere, Sunderland’s visit to Leeds has also shifted for TV, now 7.30pm on Tuesday, 3 March on TNT Sports.
The FA Cup fourth-round tie at Oxford United will be played on Sunday, 15 February 2026 at 14:00 GMT, live on discovery+.
