Sunderland will keep a close watch on Jobe Bellingham’s situation amid suggestions of Manchester United interest. TEAMtalk reports that the midfielder has reappeared on United’s radar ahead of the summer window.

Bellingham joined Borussia Dortmund from Sunderland last summer for a reported £27.8million plus £4.2million in add-ons, the biggest fee ever received by a newly promoted Premier League club. He agreed a five-year contract with the Bundesliga side.

The report says United are assessing several midfielders, with Carlos Baleba and Atalanta’s Ederson among leading options. Bellingham is one of the names worked on alongside others such as Elliott Anderson, Sandro Tonali and Alex Scott, while Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be tracking him.

Sunderland inserted a 15 per cent sell-on clause, so any future move could deliver further funds. The sum depends on whether it applies to the full fee or only profit, for example a £40million sale would be worth £6million if calculated on the full amount.

Bellingham’s development in Germany has continued. The 20-year-old has started 18 of Dortmund’s last 20 matches and has 31 Bundesliga appearances this season, with 48 outings and one goal in all competitions.

He previously made 90 appearances and scored 11 goals for Sunderland after arriving from Birmingham City in 2023, helping the club win promotion. He was named EFL Championship Young Player of the Season in 2025 and started the play-off final win over Sheffield United.
