Sunderland will have a front-of-shirt sponsor in 2026-27, despite online rumours following the sponsorless home kit reveal.
According to Sunderland Echo, the Hummel home kit was unveiled on Tuesday without any front branding, a clean look that drew praise but fuelled talk the Black Cats might go sponsorless. A new commercial partner will be announced in due course.
During the away kit launch, it was confirmed that supporters who buy shirts before the reveal can later have the sponsor added. Further details on the process will follow once the partnership is unveiled.
Launching without branding appears to reflect the timing of the agreement rather than an intention to remain sponsorless. The announcement date remains unclear and the company involved has not yet emerged.
The agreement comes before a significant campaign, with Sunderland competing in the Premier League and Europa League. Growing commercial income remains important to the club’s wider plans as Florent Ghisolfi and Régis Le Bris prepare the squad for the demands of European football.
