Sunderland ‘in advanced talks’ for Toulouse left back Dayann Methalie | OneFootball

Sunderland have stepped up their pursuit of Toulouse left back Dayann Methalie.

RMC reports that the Black Cats are in advanced talks with Toulouse and already have an agreement with the 20-year-old. Their interest surfaced last month.

An attacking full back who has often operated at wing back since his Toulouse debut, Methalie drew interest from several clubs after a breakout Ligue 1 campaign. If the clubs agree a fee, with the report indicating a package around £25 million, he would sign a five-year deal.

Left back has been a priority in this window for Sunderland, with Dennis Cirkin leaving as a free agent earlier this summer.

Arthur Masuaku is also widely expected to move on and has interest from Konyaspor in Türkiye. That leaves Régis Le Bris with Reinildo as the only recognised left back, and the 32-year-old is in the second and final year of his contract.
