Sunderland are being linked with a summer move for Almeria attacking midfielder Sergio Arribas, a former Chelsea target with 20 league goals this season. The Black Cats are shaping plans after securing Premier League safety with recent wins over Leeds United and Newcastle United.

Sport Witness reports that Sunderland could try to bring the Real Madrid academy graduate to the Premier League after his performances caught the eye of sporting director Florent Ghisolfi. Meanwhile, Gazzetta dello Sport claims Roma are also keen and have Arribas and Red Bull Salzburg’s Kerim Alajbegović among their main targets as they plan for life without Paulo Dybala.

Arribas joined the Segunda Division club in summer 2023 for a reported £5m. He has 38 goals and 16 assists in 116 appearances, with 27 goal involvements in 33 matches this season.

Sunderland have also been linked with Bologna and Colombia defender Jhon Lucimi, Brøndby’s Clement Bischoff and Clermont Foot midfielder Habib Keita.

Dybala, capped 40 times by Argentina, is out of contract at the end of the season after four years at the Stadio Olimpico. He has scored 45 goals in 135 Roma appearances and was part of the team that reached the 2023 Europa League final, where Sevilla prevailed.
