Sunderland’s summer window has begun with winger Simon Adingra set to return after Monaco chose not to activate a purchase option, NiceMatin reports.
Adingra joined from Brighton and Hove Albion last summer, scoring one and assisting one in 15 games before moving to Monaco in January. The report also says Wout Faes will not be signed permanently.
The Ivory Coast international is due back on Wearside, with a decision on his long-term future expected after this summer’s World Cup finals.
Elsewhere, RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande, 19, remains linked with Liverpool after posting 13 goals and 10 assists in 36 outings, and talk has centred on a bid of over £100m.
“During negotiations with Leipzig, things also became very concrete with Sunderland. However, they didn’t want to trigger the release clause. Many other clubs who could have paid the €20million said they found the player very interesting, but a transfer was too risky due to his limited playing time.”
He was speaking to Sky Sports.
Goalkeeper Matty Young, 19, will return after a second stint with Salford City. The former Darlington loanee kept 16 clean sheets in 50 appearances last season and signed a long-term deal last month. He is expected to head out on loan again next season.
