The home side have received a double fitness boost ahead of the clash with Aston Villa. Midfielder Enzo Le Fée is expected to be available after missing last week’s draw at Crystal Palace with a minor issue.

Defender Dan Ballard is also in contention to return, having recovered from the groin injury that has kept him out of the last two league games. However, the team will remain without Luke O’Nien. The midfielder is still one to two weeks away from a return as he recovers from a shoulder injury.

The midfield will be marshalled by the experienced Granit Xhaka. In attack, Wilson Isidor is pushing for just his second start of the league season. The striker is in superb form at home, having scored in both of Sunderland’s games at the Stadium of Light this season.
