According to a report from Foot Mercato, RC Lens have reached an agreement with Sunderland AFC for left-back Arthur Masuaku (32) to join the club on a six-month loan after agreeing terms with both teams.
Masuaku only joined the Premier League side in the summer, signing as a free agent on a two-year contract after leaving Turkish club Beşiktaş. He has only made four appearances since arriving in England, and has largely been left out of the squad before his involvement in DR Congo’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign.
It’ll be a homecoming for Masuaku, who was born in Lille and spent five years at Lens’s academy before switching to Valenciennes FC, where he made his professional debut.
He joins a title-chasing Lens side, who are surprisingly looking to end a 29-year wait for a league-title. Lens sit second in the table, but could reclaim top spot with a victory against Olympique de Marseille tonight.
