Sunderland sit 16th in the Premier League five-game form table on five points, ahead of Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur. Sunderland Echo notes a dip following an excellent start that has kept them well clear of relegation trouble.

Saturday brought a 3-1 defeat at struggling West Ham United, leaving just one win in the last seven league matches and dropping them to 11th.

Across the last five, they beat Crystal Palace and drew with Manchester City and Tottenham.

Away form is hurting them, with defeats on their last two trips to London, yet they remain the Premier League’s final unbeaten home side. In the same period they also knocked Everton out of the FA Cup on penalties.

Newcastle United top the form table as the only club to reach double figures over that span. Manchester United are the only unbeaten side, drawing with Wolves and Leeds in Ruben Amorim’s final games then taking seven points from three matches since he left.
