Austin Okocha, the former Nigeria captain, was unimpressed with the team’s display during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. He is urging the Super Eagles to address their lack of consistency ahead of AFCON 2025 in Morocco.

After failing to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, with a string of erratic results, Okocha believes the team needs to deliver more stable performances:

Nigeria’s journey through the World Cup qualifiers was a rollercoaster, but we would have liked to see Nigeria qualify more comfortably. Football isn’t an easy game, but they have to be more consistent. They need to put in strong performances in every match.

For AFCON in Morocco, the Super Eagles will face Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania in the group stage. Eric Chelle now needs to stabilize his squad to secure positive results.
