Lazio striker Taty Castellanos is edging closer towards his return to the pitch as he continues to display encouraging signs on the training ground.
The Argentinian striker has been sorely missed since suffering an injury against Napoli in mid-February. Although he made his return to action against Viktoria Plzen, he ended up suffering a relapse which ruled him out of action for another few weeks. In his absence, Marco Baroni’s other attacking choices have failed to deliver upfront.
Therefore, the Bianconcelesti have been desperate to regain the services of the 26-year-old, but cannot bring him back prematurely and risk another setback. Therefore, the technical staff is planning to gradually reintroduce him, beginning with a 20-minute cameo on Sunday against Atalanta, while gunning for a starting role in next weekend’s Derby della Capitale.
According to La Lazio Siamo Noi, Castellanos is looking increasingly sharp in training and is now taking part in the team’s mini-matches. But on the other hand, Tijjani Noslin has missed the last two sessions after complaining of an unspecified physical problem. Hence, it remains to be seen if the Dutchman will manage to shake off this issue in time to receive a call-up for the trip to Bergamo.
On a related note, Gustav Isaksen has been undergoing differentiated training after suffering a slight knock while on international duty. The Dane still started against Torino, but didn’t seem to be in his optimal physical condition. Finally, Nuno Tavares has recovered from the recent problem that kept him out of Portugal’s last two contests, so he’s expected to start against Atalanta.
