Former Manchester United manager and current Bayer Leverkusen boss Erik ten Hag is reportedly very eager to be reunited with Rasmus Hojlund. However, there are seven other interested parties monitoring the striker’s situation.
United are believed to be open to selling Hojlund after another tough season at the club, despite his big-money move from Atalanta in the summer of 2023.
Hojlund netted a respectable 16 goals across all competitions in his maiden campaign in England. However, last term, he only scored 10 goals, with just four of these coming in the Premier League.
He has yet to start justifying his £72m price tag and United are thought to be keen on cutting their losses.
A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Hojlund has not been outrightly told that he is up for sale, but United would listen to offers for him.
The Red Devils value the Dane at £30m.
There have been suggestions that RB Leipzig requested Hojlund as part of a deal for Benjamin Sesko, but the United number 9 is not interested in joining the Bundesliga outfit.
According to CaughtOffside, Leipzig remain on the hunt for Hojlund but they’re joined by seven other clubs across Europe, including Ten Hag’s Leverkusen.
Ten Hag, of course, sanctioned United’s swoop for Hojlund.
CaughtOffside claim that Hojlund is emerging as “one of the most sought-after centre-forwards on the continent,” with several teams lining up to take take him.
“Former United boss and current Bayer Leverkusen manager Erik ten Hag is said to be pushing hard for a reunion with Hojlund in the Bundesliga, sources close to the agents industry have told CaughtOffside.”
“Ten Hag remains a firm believer in the young forward’s potential and wants to make him a cornerstone of his new attacking setup in Germany. But Leverkusen’s interest is just the tip of the iceberg.”
“Serie A giants AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus, and Napoli have all shown strong interest, while Bundesliga contenders Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, and Eintracht Frankfurt are also monitoring the situation closely.”
The news outlet notes that Inter have made the strongest advances for Hojlund. The 22-year-old is attracted to the Nerazzuri but United will only let him join them on a permanent transfer.
Inter have proposed a loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season – an arrangement United have rejected.
